Hats and Heels Empowerment Celebration

Administration ♪Music♪ I served and I deserve peace,
love, and health. I served, I deserve
respect, recognition, and love for myself. I served
and I deserve everything my heart desires, for
myself and all of my sisters. Today we are at the Cultural
Arts Center, celebrating our first annual
Women’s Empowerment Celebration. The celebration is
a fun-filled day. We’re having lunch, we’re doing
some community networking, providing support, and
empowerment for our women veterans, one to another. To
make them aware and educate them on the services that are
available through the VA Health Care System. So
they can have an opportunity to meet and network with
other women veterans. And to just have a fun-filled
day of being pampered. Women represented
almost 10% of the total veteran population. By 2020, it’s
expected that women veterans are estimated to make up 10.5%
of the total veteran population. Our main goal for todays
event is to help our female veterans here in the Central
Texas area feel empowered, know that we are there for
them, to help them. And they served and they deserve
the best care possible and we are there to honor
them and support them as well. We’ve decided this would be a
great way to provide women the opportunity to get
together, celebrate one another. And the Women’s
Health Care Program from Central Texas has
determined our greatest benefit of this is; it’s a
way that we can say thank you to all the women
veterans for their services. So, I thank you for your
service. I thank you for being my sisters. You
understand well what we’ve all had to go through to wear
the uniform. So, support one another. Take what
you’ve gotten here today, build on it, network with
each other. Come back next year. Thank you, thank you
for your service. US Department of Veterans
